Our puppy discovered some unexpected babies this weekend. How timely?! These little guys are sooooo sweet, and you just want to hold them, and take care of them. I am doing my best to not interfere..... we put up a little fence all around the garden today. My hope is to keep the dogs, and myself, out of nature's way until the bunnies have a chance to make it on their own. These pictures do not really capture how adorable they are. Their little eyes are still closed, and their ears lay back.

The nest is tucked in between the piece of picket fence and the brick pillar. Mom kept the babies hidden from view with pieces of fur and grass. I have read that the babies do not have a scent, maybe one of them wiggled a bit to catch Trooper's attention? Luckily, he did not harm it in any way.... he was really just trying to get the little baby to play.

So, as the lovely Black Eyed Susans wave goodbye to summer, swaying in the glorious September breeze, I sincerely hope that we have many more sunny days ahead. These innocent creatures have a long hard row to hoe, before the weather turns cool.

Cute little bunnies! Is this late for them to be so small? It seems like it must be.
Love the photos of your black-eyed susans too. I had some when my garden was first planted, but the deer or rabbits ate them!
Actually, are some of those coneflowers in with the black-eyed susans?
